What started as a small community celebration of spring has grown into one of Tasmania’s most recognised regional festivals — while staying proudly Wynyard at heart.

The Wynyard Tulip Festival is a celebration of community, place and one spectacular North West Tasmanian spring.
Proudly presented by Waratah-Wynyard Council, the festival transforms Gutteridge Gardens beside the Inglis River into a vibrant gathering of music, food, entertainment, families, locals and visitors.
It also connects Wynyard with one of the region’s most recognisable spring experiences — the extraordinary tulip display at Table Cape.

From local idea
to regional icon.
More than three decades of community energy have shaped the festival you see today.
1997

Growing up.
As the festival grows, an incorporated committee is formed to provide more structure and support.
2005

A regional event.
The event becomes a Special Committee of Waratah-Wynyard Council, reflecting its growing significance to the region.
2007

Bloomin’ good.
A new chapter begins with the Bloomin’ Tulip Festival identity and a renewed focus on creating a high-quality, family-friendly visitor experience.
2010

By the river.
The festival relocates to Gutteridge Gardens and becomes the single flagship festival day that visitors know today.
2020

Spring Loaded.
During the pandemic, spring celebrations spread across the municipality through the month-long Spring Loaded program.

Still blooming.
More than 20,000 people now join the celebration, but the heart of the festival remains the same: community, place and tulips.

Gutteridge Gardens sits beside the Inglis River in the heart of Wynyard — close to town, surrounded by green space and made for a community celebration.
It’s where local food, live music, art, entertainment and community spirit come together for one colourful spring Saturday.

Coaches and prams
Passengers board using three steps and a handrail. Prams must be folded and stored in the luggage compartment. Drivers can help with storage.
Wheelchair-accessible travel
The coaches are not wheelchair accessible. A dedicated Toyota Coaster, able to carry 2–3 wheelchairs, is available on demand. At any shuttle stop, let the coach driver know and they will arrange for the accessible vehicle to collect you.
Table Cape Tulip Farm
Follow the colour

The Roberts-Thomson family planted the farm’s first imported tulip bulbs in 1984. Today, Table Cape Tulip Farm is one of Tasmania’s best-known spring destinations.
